How 20-year-old second wife used pestle to kill first wife while she was sleeping

A 20-year-old second wife of a man is currently being interrogated by men of the Bauchi State Police Command after she used a pestle to hit the man’s first wife on the head while she was asleep, causing her death in the process, the command announced on Monday, November 28.

 

The second wife, whose name was given as Maryam Ibrahim, was arrested after her husband, whose name was given as Sambo Ibrahim, reported the incident at the Maina-Maji Police Division.

 

According to the report lodged by the man, his second wife, armed with a pestle, entered the room of his first wife, whose name was given as Hafsat Ibrahim, aged 32 years, and hit her with the pestle on the head, causing her to sustain injuries.

The first wife was said to have been rushed to a hospital in the area where she was confirmed dead on arrival by the doctor on duty.

 

According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Muhammad Wakil, and posted on the Facebook wall of the command on Monday, during interrogation, the lady was said to have admitted carrying out the act due to anger.

 

According to the report, the first wife was said to have earlier on the day of the incident sent her son to give the second wife some fried meat, but after eating the said meat, she became uncomfortable and started vomiting.

 

Sensing that her vomiting could have been as a result of ulcer which she had, the wife of her husband’s younger brother was said to have given her an ulcer medicine but the lady became angry. She thereafter, went to her kitchen, picked a pestle, entered the room of the first wife while she was sleeping and hit her on the head.

She is currently giving more information to the police operatives after which she is expected to be charged to court for prosecution.
